Prerequisites for the formation of business groups in different countries

This paper reveals the concept of business groups in different countries by different researchers, discusses their common features and reveals peculiarities of formation of business groups, shows the heterogeneity of this phenomenon and its definition, draws the line between the definition of clusters that are common in USA and Great Britain, and a business group. An overview of business groups in the developing and developed countries is presented, by emphasising the positive and negative aspects of this business structure to country‘s economy, social and political life. The article discusses the shortcomings of the Lithuanian statistical data collection methods, and explores the origins of the Lithuanian business groups.
