Abstract

The regulation of non-governmental organizations performance in Lithuania isn’t fully formed yet. Although several methods for the estimation of the efficiency of non-governmental organizations activity exist, such estimation is not a widely spread phenomenon and very often depends on the intentions and consciousness of the members of the said organizations. This article analyses the main concepts and criteria of efficiency of non-governmental organizations, which may be identified as the specific elements of the activity of this entire sector. The first part of article analyses the concept of non-governmental organizations and their exclusivity comparing to private and public sector. The second part analyses the main aspects of non-governmental organizations performance estimation. That leads to identification of the main indicators of effectiveness called external connections and mutual cooperation.
