Abstract

Promoting student learning in higher education has recently become a concern among educationalists abroad and in Lithuania. Student learning has been widely researched from both the learner’s and the teacher’s perspective, however, in Lithuania the aspect of promoting learning through feedback provided to students in higher education has not been investigated in depth. This article provides systemic analysis of research literature on feedback from the perspective of general systems theory and reviews research proof connected with its impact on learning as well as discusses features of effective feedback. Finally, the present study is aimed at raising educationalists’ awareness about the critical role of feedback on student learning in higher education.
